2/3 cup shortening
1 egg
¾ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cups flour
1½ teaspoons baking powder
½ cup broken nuts
4 teaspoons milk
¼ teaspoons salt
½ cup raisins
1. Set oven at 375 degrees. (Put shortening on a piece of waxed paper. Rub over cookie sheets until lightly greased) – I skip that step
2. Soften shortening with wooden spoon. Mix sugar in well. Add egg. Beat until fluffy. Add vanilla
3. Sift flour onto paper. Measure. Add baking powder, salt. Sift mixture onto another paper
4. Add milk to shortening – egg mixture. Add flour mixture, nuts, raisins. Drop on cooky sheet by teaspoons
5. Bake about 12 minutes. Remove. Sprinkle on some sugar. While first pan of cookies bakes, fix next.
