TURKEY SHISHKABOBS
This is a labor intensive effort. I usually buy the precooked turkey breast and carve into bite size chunks. Cut a few Red Bell Peppers and Onions into bite size pieces. Load skewers with the meat and 2 or 3 vegetables, alternating until full. Other suggested items:
Mushrooms
Pineapple
Tomatoes
Bacon Slices
The skewers are immediately basted with a simple sauce of equal parts:
A-1 Steak Sauce
Teriyaki Baste & Glaze
Pineapple Juice (and/or
Orange Juice)
These skewers are a huge investment of time and money and should be slowly cooked over charcoal. Turn the skewers once in a while to get a coating on the entire skewer.
The turkey is already cooked so the entire cooking time is dedicated to getting a sugary glaze on everything. The vegetables will be done enough by the time everything has a nice thick candy coating.
Serving suggestions: Everything is just too yummy to throw away. Have a bowl available for the picky eaters to throw the items they don’t want so others can still enjoy. Serve on a bed of rice. Garlic bread is also a good addition.
